Saving 3 Cows from Slaughter

Organized by Jodi Chapman

We Did It!!!
Yay! We just got back from handing the owner a check for $3600! Thanks to all of you, we saved 3 lives!
We are now the proud parents of these sweet boys, and we are thrilled that they will be able to live out their lives. Over 100 people donated between the Chipin site and offline - amazing how everyone came together and saved Pooka Cow, Spotty Friend, and Less Spotty Friend! Thank you so much!
We raised almost the full amount in just 2 weeks - isn't that amazing? We are just a bit short of the $3600, and I'm confident that we will be able to raise that soon. Also, now that we are sure that they will be here for a very long time, we can focus on raising some money for their care. A local farmer estimated their care to be about $100/month for the 3 combined. We have to buy hay for them today or tomorrow, which is $150. I am hoping that if they are fed more and don't have to rely on the grass that's overgrazed, they will stop trying to escape. Just in the past week, we have (with the help of our very kind neighbors) had to help them go back in several times. Not an easy task to say the least. So fingers crossed that by feeding them extra, they will be so happy that they will want to stay. We also found out that they have never had shots or heartworm prevention - so we're going to have to have that done as well. We're calling a veteranarian on Tuesday to make sure we're doing everything that's best for them.
This is all new to us - Dan and I never imagined that we would be parents to these 3 boys. So we're learning as we go. We spent the entire morning and part of the afternoon today learning about what they eat, what they need, etc. And also just how to interact with them. They are very shy around us, and I am hoping that once they get used to us, that will change. It was a good "Cow 101" cram session. We did each feed them, though, without a fence inbetween us, and while they were really shy at first, they did eventually take it from our hands. It was a very special moment. :)
I promise that I will keep you all updated - for now we are just going to focus on taking care of them and trying to raise enough money to make sure they have everything they need.
Thank you so much to all of you - we really needed you all to make this happen!
XOXO Jodi
Just $1000 to go!
That's right - thanks to all of you, we've now raised $2600!!!! We just have $1000 more to go!

Let's all keep getting the word out and reach out to everyone we know. We can do this - I just know it!

Thank you so much!!!

Almost 1/2 Way to Saving Them!
Hi everyone,

I wanted to give you all an update and let you know that we've now raised $1600 (through this site and offline)!!! That means that we're almost 1/2 way to our goal of saving these sweet cows!

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated and helped to spread the word.

We have to give the owner a check 1 week from today (2/13). (For some reason the widget wouldn't let me enter that as the due date.) So my fingers are crossed that we can raise the rest of the money this week.

We donated 100% of sales last Wednesday from our Etsy shop and raised over $500! We're going to do it again this Wednesday (2/10), so please come by then and shop - it will all go toward saving the cows! http://www.thisisit.etsy.com

Please see my blog for a list of the other great people who are donating either all or a portion of their sales toward saving these sweet boys:

Thank you so much to everyone for all of your help!

Please keep spreading the word!

Jodi :)

Thank you all so much for your donations - Dan and I both appreciate it. We have our fingers crossed that we'll raise the full amount with your help.

Please keep getting the word out!

We're Getting There!
Thanks to all of you, we are making progress towards raising enough money to save these sweet boys! Between this site and offline donations, we have made almost $600 in less than 3 days!

I just posted a blog about all of the wonderful shops that are donating either a portion or all of their sales towards saving these sweeties:

http://www.thisisitcreations.blogspot.com/

Please check out these compassionate shops that are all graciously donating their products to make sure these cows can live!

And remember - we are donating 100% of sales all day tomorrow (2/3) toward saving these cows! Our site: http://www.thisisit.etsy.com Please come by, buy our products, and help us raise enough money to save these animals!

Thanks so much to everyone for donating and getting the word out. Let's keep it up!

:) XOXO Jodi

Thank you - and please keep the donations coming!
You all are amazing - thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far!

If you haven't had a chance to donate yet, please do so as soon as you can!

Also, we will be donating 100% of our sales from www.thisisit.etsy.com to saving the cows this Wednesday (2/3)! So if you've been meaning to buy some of our products - that would be a great time to do it!

Thank you to everyone who is donating a portion of their sales to this fundraiser. That is so awesome of you!

Fingers crossed that we'll raise enough money in time! I can't imagine these boys being killed in 12 days. :(

Thank you thank you thank you!!!

Jodi

Update
Hi again,
For some reason, I am not able to edit the end date of when we need the money by - we have to give the owner a check for $3600 on 2/13 - less than 2 weeks away.
Also, if you would rather mail a check, please send it to:
This Is IT! Creations
P.O. Box 1252
Jacksonville, OR 97530

We've been asked where the cows will go if we do raise enough money to save them - they will stay here, at least for the short term. We have 11 acres of land, a barn, and a stream. We are planning to create a line of products where all of the profits will go toward their care (hay, vet bills, fence mending, etc.) If we can find a loving family with enough land to adopt them, we are definitely open to that as well. :)

Thank you all for helping!

Help Save 3 Cows from Being Slaughtered
Hi to all of you,
I just found out that the 3 cows who graze on our land were scheduled to be slaughtered today. :( We asked the owner if he would consider selling the cows to us instead. He has agreed to that, but would need the money ($3600) in full in just 2 weeks.
We were hoping that he would take payments - and that would give us enough time to put a fundraiser together, but he wasn't willing to do that. We're just happy that he's given us a 2-week extension.
I have attached a picture of these sweet boys - they are amazing animals. We have named them Pooka Cow (the brown one), Spotty Friend, and Less Spotty Friend.
I am reaching out to you all and asking for help - mainly through donations. Also through networking and getting the word out to everyone you know. I just can't imagine not raising this money in time - they are only 2 years old and have many more years of happy lives to live.
The first step is to raise enough money to save them from being slaughtered. Then we will worry about raising money to care for them...
Thanks so much, you guys!
